Wokingham does have an excellent war memorial to commemorate the lives lost to war, but it is tucked away inside the Town Hall and is rarely seen by the public. There are also smaller memorials dotted around the town, but do many people know where they are?

As time moves away from the wars of the 20th century, so does their memory fade and the impact on modern life. More than ever do we need to be reminded of the sacrifice of the individuals and families involved and the reasons why we shouldn't go to war in the first place, unless there absolutely is no other choice. Which is why, in the midst of Wokingham's Town Centre Regeneration we are asking for a space to be made available for an additional memorial, for all our people, in all conflicts, in the past,present and future.
