Michael Straczynski Ever since I was a child Star Wars has been a very large part of my life. It inspired me to follow the career path that I am now on. Star Wars has always told wonderful stories about adventure, about giving one's self up for a greater cause, about the fight between good and evil and regardless of how difficult the journey good always prevailing. And the lines have always been quite clear and inline with Godly moral principles; good is portrayed as good, and evil as evil. But now Star Wars is starting to head down a track that we can neither condone nor support. LGBT activists and their allies have called for the inclusion of gay and lesbian characters in Star Wars. I wholeheartedly believe that Disney intends well, they are trying to support a cause they believe in. They wish to, as many of the heroes in Star Wars do, look out for the underdogs. But it is not right. Homosexuality directly contradicts God's intention for sex. In His eyes it defiles His design and is therefore sin. “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable." Leviticus 18:22 "26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done." Romans 1:26-28 If you willingly condone and support the practice of of a sin, by displaying it to be good and/or not having any consequence, you are a liar. By doing this you spit in the face of God, telling him that you know best. Not only this, but you also lead audiences astray. That's not acceptable. Let it be known that we do not hate homosexuals, not at all. Many of us have friends who are gay or lesbian, and care for them deeply. Nothing that we say or believe stems from hatred, anger, or fear of them. Quite the opposite. We stand so firmly in our convictions because we care for them, and we cannot stand idly by and watch the media, society, and whoever else tell a lie that can effect their lives eternally. And this is where the above quote by Mr. Straczynski fits in. Simply because a group of people think it right, because an organization believes it correct, because a society deems it appropriate, because you, Disney, Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Rian Johnson think it is okay does not mean that it is. You as storytellers first and foremost have a duty to be honest with your audiences, no matter how painful. And to do anything less than tell the truth is a disgrace. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, Rian Johnson, we implore you, do not take this call lightly. When you tell your audiences, men, women, teens, and children that homosexuality is fine and carries no consequence, you are toying with their eternities. Firmly ground Star Wars in Godly moral principles. You carry too much influence to do otherwise. We cannot, in good moral conscience condone homosexuality, nor can we support a company that does.
