The University of Alaska faces a $26M budget deficit. Jobs have been cut, departments downsized. Departing faculty are not being replaced, or replaced by adjuncts at poverty wages. Student services have been slashed while student fees have increased. Routine maintenance has repeatedly been deferred. The university community is suffering under these fiscal austerity measures. A $320,000 bonus for the UA President  is fiscally and morally irresponsible at this time.
