America has been called the land of the free for scores of years. This is a freedom that has been lost. Why? Because big businesses and corporations have destroyed the self-employed man, forcing him to work for a wage. Let us recognize a wage for what it is. Bondage to the employer. Those who are not employed are supported by the government, chaining them. Distributism seeks to alleviate these ills that have descended upon America. It propounds the belief that no man is free unless he relies on himself for sustenance. Distributism is not a political theory, nor does tout man as autonomous. It merely supports the truth that is within every human soul that man must look inward for his survival, then outward to aid his fellow man. This is accomplished through small farms especially, also through small businesses, as well as individual craftsmen. America is very sick, and Distributism is the only cure.
