The City of Newark purchased 11.74 acres from Tarrant County Water District in 1978 for $4,500. It has been used as a Ballpark and recreation area for years by residents.  Residents have donated and financed the well, lights and most of the equipment.  City officials pushed a vote sell the park and are planning to change the zoning to residential use to allow its development. Bleachers, fencing, etc. that were used by Ballpark visitors were removed (most of which were donated by private citizens) and the City is now using the park to store their surplus materials.  Concerned citizens are opposed to the change in zoning and against the development of one of our last remaining open areas of land. Please join us in urging the City of Newark to stop the rezoning and sale the largest City Park in Newark to developers.
