Save our surgery-richmond house, Whitchurch shropshire.
The Issue
The 4,000 patients of Whitchurch currently attending what is known as the best doctors’ surgery around the area are about to lose this surgery. For over 30 years the patients here have gained complete trust with each GP. The staff at this surgery treat each person as an individual and not a number. We have complete faith in our amazing doctors. The superb help and advice from the receptionists received is above and beyond what a patient would normally receive elsewhere. These admin staff have been a part of this family for over 10 years and to lose their hard earned livelihood is despicable. Originally we were given funding from the CCG so that we as patients were given hope and felt like we were able to continue to see our amazing surgery of doctors and nurses. However, we've now had that taken away from us and are left feeling like we are just a number and we'll be dumped just anywhere. As a patient myself at the surgery I cannot praise the doctors enough for the help they have given my partner for his back condition and my anxiety illness. They've been here for us for over 4 years and for my son when he was born at Christmas. They truly are a wonderful set of doctors and staff. It is imperative to this community to keep the doors of Richmond house surgery open. Our concern is we do not want to have to find and build long relations with a new doctor, our current doctors have gained such trust that it will be very difficult to trust any others in the same way. We all have rights and our right should be to keep our trusted set of doctors and staff in a job. Our community depends on this surgery and we need the funding reinstated. There is ample space at the hospital for just our surgery or there is the old ambulance station sitting empty. There is also the Talbot centre - another empty building. What is the harm in funding for one of these venues? To fund our surgery will continue to give the community peace of mind knowing that they feel safe and will continue to be treated by the same doctors that have over time saved their lives and helped them through the most important life-threatening illnesses both at home and in the surgery. The town will continue to thrive knowing there is set of trusted doctors here. The advice these doctors give is truly amazing and it would be such a shame to lose them. The community is ever expanding and will not cope without Richmond house. It simply cannot be a case of just finding other doctors, the community in this town have gained so much trust in knowing their lives are in capable hands. It would be nearly impossible to simply transfer 4000 patients wherever it deemed necessary. There are 2 other surgeries within the town, however they are stretched to the limits. The government have provided further funding for GPs according to the recent media, therefore that funding should be given to the smaller communities such as ours to help the ever growing population of Whitchurch. With the new housing estates being built here, to lose our surgery will cause continued strain on the other surgeries within our town. This simply cannot happen. It is absolutely necessary to keep Richmond house to support the growing community here!
