The rivers of Market Harborough were once the pride of our community—a beautiful and essential part of our town’s identity. But now, they are a shadow of their former glory, marred by neglect and destruction. It is deeply personal to not just me, but every single resident of our town who has witnessed this tragic transformation.

Once pristine and vibrant ecosystems, our rivers have been severely degraded due to a series of developments and mismanagement that have gone unchecked.  The impact on our local environment is undeniable. Debris and pollution now stain the waters we have cherished for so long.

Inaction is no longer an option. We call upon the Market Harborough District Council, our Member of Parliament, and the river authority to take responsibility and restore the health of our two rivers. Action must include rigorous environmental assessments, implementation of sustainable restoration practices, and continued maintenance to ensure the vitality of these critical waterways.
