Rai television is the Italian public television company. It is widely broadcasted and followed by Italians worldwide via its main channel Raiuno. In the Netherlands this channel is not available anymore from April 2015 via the main cable-TV provider, Ziggo, whilst the main IPTV provider, KPN, already removed it from its offer in 2013. As replacement, both companies are offering Mediaset, which is a private-owned TV controlled by the Berlusconi family. We believe that the almost 50.000 Italians living in the Netherlands have the right to be represented and informed by a public-owned independent television channel.
