In 2008, a community initiative was born in Morpeth town. A club dedicated to paddle sports was established, providing affordable and often free opportunities for local residents to engage in this healthy and enjoyable activity. The heart of this club is a humble container, strategically placed adjacent to the former Morpeth Riverside Leisure centre. This container houses the equipment that has brought joy, health benefits and a sense of community to countless individuals.

Families have bonded here. Schools have found an invaluable resource for physical education here. Local organizations have used it as a hub for their activities. It's not just about paddle sports; it's about community spirit.

Now, there are plans to move this container from its current site without any definitive plan or timeline for its replacement or relocation. This threatens not only our beloved paddle sports club but also the wider community assets that depend on it.

We understand development is necessary and often beneficial but let us not lose sight of what makes our town special - its people and their shared experiences.

We urge you - our local authority council - to keep the container at its current location until there is a clear plan for its future which includes consultation with all stakeholders involved including families, schools, local organisations who use these facilities regularly.
