MALO Jan Juc is a popular coffee spot embracing the community’s love of nature and coffee. Located at the front of the Jan Juc Caravan Park, MALO has been serving locals for almost two years. First as a coffee van and now as a mobile shipping container.

Malo has been advised by the Surf Coast Shire that it must cease trading as of Sunday 24 September, 2023, due to permit complications.

We are all devastated by this news. 

The team at MALO and the Jan Juc Caravan Park, ask for your support in appealing to the Surf Coast Shire to provide a six month trade extension. This would give MALO time to get the legal support needed to navigate the permit system. 

The young owner and staff have put their heart and soul into making MALO more than just a coffee shop. The land has grown into a welcoming space for every demographic and dog of the community. For many, it’s an important social outlet and daily ritual. Keeping MALO open during the permit application would save local jobs and the stress and cost of closure. 

Given the limited social spaces in Jan Juc, we appeal to the Surf Coast Shire to support the hard work of this small business, and not close it down!

We aim to get as many signatures on this petition as possible, and submit to Surf Coast Council by Thursday 7th September for review, so they can consider granting a much needed reprieve!
