The Palo Alto High School ASB has begun to sell shirts for Breast Cancer Awareness Month - to turn a profit, and fund their events (which already require entry by high priced tickets). This horrible disease is being used as a means for the ASB to acquire money, which takes away focus from the actual issue, and it diminishes the value of spreading awareness in the first place. 

The ASB could have and should:

1) Not sell the shirts with intentions of profiting

2) Find a way to make the profit benefit those affected by Breast Cancer

3) Fund an event to spread more awareness using profit from the T-shirts (Gunn had a walk for life)

4) Buy Breast Cancer Awareness gear to be distributed free of charge for the sake of spreading awareness

Furthermore, Breast Cancer has been made aware, it is time to solve the problem.

People have lost loved ones to cancer, and I speak for all of us when I say  homecoming, prom and other events planned by the ASB are much less important than making a difference in the world. Using a disease to generate revenue is not acceptible - fix this to put value back into human life.
