We the undersigned, petition the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council - its Councillors & Council Nominees - to urgently repair the Birdrock Beach Stairs in Mount Martha, Mornington Peninsula.

The Birdrock Beach Stairs  were closed to the public at the end of December 2022 by the Mornington Peninsula Shire and a sign erected stating that repair work would be proposed for the 24/25 financial year budget. Note that our shire is responsible for maintaining and repairing infrastructure along this section of our coastline.

To date (September 2024) there has been no action taken by the Mornington Peninsula Shire to repair the stairs and restore access to the majority of people, and has not been included into this year's budget as proposed.This local hidden gem is a haven for hundreds of locals and visitors alike. Also as a consequence of the stair closure Birdrock Beach is not being cleaned, maintained or monitored.

The Summer months of 2024-2025 are fast approaching. It is nearly two years since the Birdrock Stairs was closed by the Mornington Peninsula Shire . We the undersigned want them repaired ASAP.
