Did you enjoy fireworks as a child?

How would you feel as a child if this enjoyment was taken away from you?

Not all areas in NZ have public fireworks displays, in addition there have been numerous public displays canned because of ever increasing crowds, attracting disorderly behaviour and alcohol, traffic jams etc. These are not family friendly environments, such problems will only get worse if the public sale of fireworks is banned.

No doubt that public display fireworks are bigger and much better, we get that, but what fun is there in watching someone else light the fuse?

We have also seen animals dead as a result of public displays, so banning our more quiet fireworks will not change things.

Will this also mean the end of sparklers?

Its time to stand up and not let a small minority get in the way of the fun that the majority of Kiwis enjoy.

Its YOUR right to use fireworks responsibly for whatever personal purpose or occasion that may be.

We do want to see tougher penalties imposed on those who use them irresponsibly and cause damage to other people and/or property.
