NET RMA (North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority): Allow bicycles access to Toll Road 49

NET RMA (North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority): Allow bicycles access to Toll Road 49
The Issue
Almost all of us have wonderful memories of riding our bikes as children. And many of us, along with our friends and family members, still ride our bikes for exercise and enjoyment. It's a great activity, it lets us enjoy the outdoors, and it helps to keep us in shape. Right now, North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority (NET RMA) is considering denying cyclists access to Toll Road 49. They have graciously agreed to consider arguments in favor of allowing cyclists to continue to use this road. We need everyone's support to help make this happen.
As a cyclist, I know that this road is by far the safest place to ride. There is a wide shoulder, so cyclists and cars can easily and safely share the space, the visibility is great, and the traffic is much less than on other roads, such as TX 155 and US 69 (cyclists are allowed on both of these roads).
Aside from my personal interests, I truly believe Tyler - in its role as FIT City and "the last great place to live" - should set the example - opening the roads to all citizens and encouraging alternate forms of transportation - including those that benefit our health!
Please sign this petition and help us keep a cycling a safe activity for all of us. Thank you!
