30 days to object the exclusion of Dodamarg Tiger Corridor from the eco-sensitive list.
The Issue
The Western Ghat's are one of the most bio-diverse regions in the world, and its right in our backyard! New species are still be being discovered today. The government has left out an entire taluka known as the Dodamarg Taluka (aka the tiger corridor) from of the eco-sensitive list.
Which means the possibility of thousands of dumpers from mines moving in and out of the area. The loud noises and deforestation will severely affect the wildlife of the area. The increase in human activity will cause loss of habitat resulting in man-animal conflict. It is important for the area to be protected so that both the green cover and the rich wildlife are not harmed by mining and other human activity.
The dense rainforest houses animals such as tigers, elephants, leopards, pangolins, sloth bears, civets and the state animal - the giant malabar squirrel.
Lets do our bit to save this natural treasure from being destroyed by human activity. The ministry has invited objections and suggestions from the public till 4th November 2015.
