Consider the benefits of our Community Wellbeing Service

The Issue

Havering Mind is a mental health charity in Havering.

We provide an array of services to the people of Havering, from all ages and backgrounds, who may be experiencing problems with their mental health.

We have recently lost funding for our biggest service – the Community Wellbeing service (CWS) which supported hundreds of people across Havering.

Our Community Wellbeing service is our core service and makes up the very heart of everything we do in the community. In the majority of cases we are able to accept and help the individuals that are referred to this service and we are able to further signpost them to other services that we run and to other services in the borough.

The service involves a number of activities and open sessions that help to improve the mental wellbeing of the people involved, reducing isolation and encourage personal growth. It is this social interaction and inclusion that is a vital part of an individual’s journey to recovery.

Statistics show that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime. However the amount of people affected does not just end with the individual experiencing the problem. It can have a dramatic effect on many of the people around that person, including family members and friends.

We believe that having this service is absolutely essential to the vulnerable people in Havering.

Below is a quote from one of our services users:

“Mind has given me my life back. I’ve gone from not leaving my flat, sitting with the curtains closed, considering whether it’s all worth it, to meeting   people that understand me and are able to offer me support.  I’ve joined the choir.  Singing has always been a passion of mine, when singing I forget my problems, my life seems so much better.”

We all have a mental health, so it is something that each and every one of us can relate to.

Our charity has been supporting the people of Havering since 1965. Next year will be our 50th anniversary year and we want to be able to continue to function with high quality and effective services.

With your help and support we believe this is possible.
