We love our city, and we treasure its residents, wildlife, landscape, and night sky far too much to ever risk harming them with glary, disruptive, light polluting, white LED street lights. 

The negative impact of these lights will be long-lasting and far-reaching. Not only will they steal away health, sleep, and the stars in the sky, these lights will also tarnish our reputation as wildlife capital of New Zealand, and ruin our opportunity to be a Night Sky City and astro tourism destination. 

We petition the DCC to shield our existing nature-kind, night sky-friendly orange streetlights - and to delay the retrofit until safe, energy efficient Amber LEDs can be installed.
