The Issue

The Maleny Lane has received a directive from the Planning Dept in council to shut down all music at the Lane by the 6th May.

The Maleny Lane Front Up Chalkboard nights and Friday music nights have continued a long tradition of celebrating and encouraging a vibrant performing arts culture in Maleny.

The Front Up Chalkboard features new and emerging artists as well as established performers – musicians, poets, storytellers and dancers. The strength of the Front Up event is the diversity of performers and the range of music and cultures it showcases, including world music, folk, pop, jazz, rock, funk and experimental. Community groups such as choirs and dance groups have been represented. There have also been specific nights devoted to youth performers.

The Front Up and Friday music nights at Maleny Lane are loved and supported by the community.  They have been essential to maintaining our mental health, social inclusion, and well-being.

Please sign this petition to urge the council to keep live music at Maleny Lane!
