The Issue

Enough is enough. Station Street has become a notorious stretch of road that causes daily danger and needless suffering for the residents of Cheslyn Hay, Great Wyrley, and Landywood. This isn’t just a problem—it’s a crisis that demands immediate action.

Station Street is meant to be a lifeline for our community, connecting us to our schools, workplaces, and shops. Instead, it has become a daily danger zone. Speeding traffic, gridlock, smashed wing mirrors, and near-miss accidents are everyday occurrences that put lives at risk. The street's current condition is not only inconvenient—it is outright unsafe.

For too long, this issue has been ignored by local authorities. But now, the residents are calling upon Staffordshire County Council to acknowledge the grave dangers of Station Street and to act decisively against them.

We propose the following solutions to ensure road safety for all residents:

🔹 To instigate an independent road safety survey on Station Street, assessing traffic volume, speed patterns, pedestrian risk, and accident history.

🔹 To identify the most viable and publicly supported safety interventions — which may include, but are NOT limited to, traffic lights, speed cameras, improved signage, pedestrian crossings, or other calming measures.

🔹 To ensure any proposed solution is evidence-based, cost-effective, and aligned with community consensus, following consultation with residents, businesses, and local authorities.

Most importantly, we need Staffordshire County Council to prioritise the safety of its residents by conducting a thorough assessment of Station Street and implementing suitable changes without delay.

The time for action is now. We owe it to our community to create a safer environment for everyone. Please join us in demanding immediate action by signing this petition.

Together, we can make Station Street safe again.

Thank you for your support,
