A uniformed officer of the Hammond Police Department was filmed hanging his dog from his collar and beating it. This is unacceptable behavior from a officer of the law who is held to a higher ethical standard than a civilian. Officers must take a oath before service, part of which is that they will not betray the public's trust. Actions like this do just that, betray the public's trust. Not to mention that these dogs are highly trianed officers of the law.

Any other person would be charged with assulting an officer if they abused it as this officer did. 

The officer needs to be relieved of duty indefinitely and barred from working in law enforcement. He should also be tried in court for assulting an officer of the law.
