Halt Wainhomes Development, A57 opposite Dinting Primary School

Halt Wainhomes Development, A57 opposite Dinting Primary School
The Issue
We are calling on the local community to support the Planning Control Commitee's decision to refuse the proposed Wainhomes 92 house development now at the appeal stage. The Council are proposing circa another 30 at later stage if the appeal is successful. The proposed site access is via the A57 facing Dinting primary school, Glossop.
The planned site access is dangerously close to the school, increasing the risk of children and parents coming into conflict with traffic, moreover, it will add to nitrogen dioxide levels and associated traffic airborne pollutants within an already designated Air Quality Management Area (AQMA), potentially harming our children's health at a notorious traffic choke point.
Additionally, this development threatens local biodiversity by eliminating beneficial woodland. According to the Woodland Trust, trees absorb harmful pollutants and improve air quality, making them crucial for our environment and public health.
The proposed site does not include any affordable homes. This lack of consideration for housing affordability exacerbates existing social inequality issues in our community. Furthermore, additional residents will strain local medical facilities that are already under pressure.
We urge the planning inspectorate to refuse this development plan and prioritize safety, environmental sustainability and social equity over profit-driven motives. Please sign this petition to protect our children's safety and preserve Glossop's natural heritage.
