At Swamp Shack in Kemah, TX, a small alligator is being kept in a confined enclosure as part of a “display” for diners. This animal—like all living creatures—deserves space, care, and a natural environment to thrive. Instead, it is trapped in a small cage without the ability to swim freely, bask in sunlight, or express its natural behaviors. It is forced to stare at a fake green background all day. 

Alligators are intelligent, sentient animals that feel stress and discomfort in captivity, especially when kept in unnatural conditions and exposed to constant human activity. What may seem like a harmless attraction is, in reality, a situation that causes unnecessary suffering.

We are calling on Swamp Shack to do the right thing:

Release the alligator to a certified wildlife rescue or sanctuary where it can live safely and humanely.
End the practice of keeping wild animals in captivity for entertainment or display purposes.
