African and Asian elephants are currently being poached for their tusks which are sold as ivory. The demand for purchasing ivory is primarily driven by China and other Asian markets.  By banning the selling and/or purchasing of their products, these countries will get the message that their actions have a negative economic consequence. Elephants are one of the most intelligent, majestic, matriarchial animals in the world. They have a RIGHT to live on this planet just as much as we do.
