THE DESTRUCTION OF KYTES ESTATE..Watford.

 

A month ago the management of our Estate informed us they intend demolishing our estate are to rebuild it.. 

No details at that time now we Know the rebuild will only include 7 bungalows . 37 cottages (useless to disabled) and a large amount of houses to sell to the rich. Plus 3 large blocks of flats . Blocking the daylight for all our neighbours in the next streets 

This estate was built starting in 1948 for war veterans who on return form the war , disabled could find nowhere for them and their families to live. Money donated enabled this estate to be built over a number of years until 1951 it was formally opened by her Majesty the Queenit consists of 44 bungalows for disabled people and their families. There is also a Manor House which used to house a library games room and and a couple of tenants . Then there is a detached house our beloved gardener lived in .and a building called the creamery where when the estate was a farm they turned the milk into cheese ect. Also farm cottage where the original chauffeur  used to live. We have .I've on this estate since 1987 and been unbeliebly happy. My wife us blind and seriously disabled as are many living on this estate ..

The management plans now is to obliterate all of the bungalows build only 7 bungalows and 37 cottages (no use to any wheelchair user) also build 3 large blocks of flats . And a number of houses that they will sell. The people living on here would be moved back and forth and still not have a place to live in the end. .. this estate was built for disabled not profit .

Well it's started . They have so called gardeners behind our properties clearing the area so the surveyors can access all the property . Over the last 40 years I have encouraged the wildlife to use that area as its a green and peacefull place for them to live . There are families of foxes that live there including young babies that are now probably running scared as these workman use industrial machines to clear the area . We're they are suppose to go at short notice I don't know . Many will get knocked over on the A401 carriage way that runs besides the estate. There are many types of birds that nest in that land aswell .not any more.....then over the next 3 years the same thing is to happen to the 44 disabled families that live on here . And when it's finished if they get their way we won't have a estate for the disabled and their families , it will be a money maker for Anchor Hanover . Who don't intend to put more than 7. Yes seven bungalows back on the estate... the rest of the properties will be so called cottages . We're if your disabled they expect the disabled person to live downstairs and the rest of the family upstairs.. and then the have a portion of the estate for private buyers and big houses .. and we're I live they intend to build 3 large blocks of flats they say will house over 55 year old with absorts of problems. ...   

 

My wife like many others here would not be able to live in a multi floored 

Place as she is not only very disabled but registered blind.. ..

 

 

 

Help us get this disgusting plan stopped . Keep kytes for the disabled there was and still is a need for home for the disabled..

 

Sign the petition tell Anchor housing to leave alone .. infact sell the estate to a decent housing corporation who cares for the tenants..
