Save Ashlawn Oak Tree

Save Ashlawn Oak Tree

The Issue

David Wilson Homes are developing a site on Ashlawn Road in Rugby to build 860 new homes, potentially generating a massive profit for the company.  Already many local residents were appalled when in the spring, contractors ripped out large swathes of hedgerow, beyond the 100 metres stated in the original planning application. Now they have permission to remove more hedgerow AND the ancient oak tree, despite Warwickshire landscape guidelines stating hedges should be planted with oak in our area.
the developers want to take the tree out for a cycle route.
This ancient oak will have captured over 2ton of carbon over its lifetime and is favoured by many different species- estimates are it could be home to 300-1000 species.
The developers are now in discussions with the local authorities to try and save the oak but we urge you to sign the petition to help keep the pressure on them to ensure they do save the oak tree and do better at mitigating any further harm to wildlife, trees and hedgerows across the site.  David Wilson Homes Save Our Oak Tree!  Preserve more wildlife at the site!
