Something needs to be done about the otter population before there is an ecological disaster!!! They are killing all fish stocks in any lake or streach of river they come across!! Putting people out of business at the end of the day!! And angling clubs are losing fish stocks that have taken many, many years to build up. Just think a fishery owner has a 30lb plus carp killed by an otter there is a couple of grand gone!! And potentially a fish that is 25-30+ years old. But they don't stop there. They will eat all the fish then move on, to the next lake or river!! Fishing is the biggest sport/pastime in this country if nothing is done then it is going to be lost. As anglers we need something done. A cull is a bit harsh!! But perhaps funding for angling clubs and fishery owners to put up the otter fencing otherwise our country is going to lose its fish stocks in the rivers and lakes.
