Bring cycling to Launceston.

The Issue

Cycling is currently prohibited in Coronation Park. This stops local children and adults from using the park at their leisure. There are no realistic and safe options for cycling in or around Launceston that is readily available.

As our community continues to grow with housing being built, it does not make sense to endanger our children and families to the likes of public roads where it is considerably less safe to cycle.

It is irresponsible to limit activities in public areas. Particularly in Coronation Park where would expect to be able to ride a bike, play on the grass etc. The closest available trails reside in areas such as Tavistock or Sourton, why are the people of Launceston limited to public carriageways.

I'm suggesting that we remove the restriction on cycling in Coronation Park and that we look into development of more areas in which we can cycle safely through and possibly outside of Launceston.

As many have already said, we need to look at funding and development of trails in and out of Launceston, we have a great community and under utilised areas where new developments of cycle trails could prove beneficial to business and cycling.
