With the economic down turn directly related to COVID-19, the city of West Kelowna, Mayor Gord Milsom and all elected officials needs to immediately STOP all progression and spending to build a new city hall. The city announced that due to reserves in funding, that they now do not need to put the movement to a referendum (similar to the one that was voted on in the past and was struck down in  2016). All money that they were going to spend should be kept for city and citizens needs. Many people are now not able to pay or have to defer their property taxes. Many citizens have either had a deduction or out right lay off from their employment. It is financially irresponsible to continue to build a new city hall and to follow millions of dollars to build a over the top, state of the art facility. 

Building a city hall, having only the people that are directly related to the topic could be and should be considered a conflict of interest as they are the only ones that are going to solely benefit from this state of the art multi million dollar office . It should be an added question, done during civic elections. It is the "peoples" money, we should be involved with this venture. 

As of April 20, 2020 the building has passed the third reading at city hall and is still a "Go" as per the city of West Kelowna's web site.

This petition will be delivered to City Hall and local media will be notified on June 1, 2020
