Chancellor Henry T. Yang: UCSB

Professor Mireille Miller-Young should be fired

No matter what side of the abortion issue you fall on is irrelvant. This is about someone who violated the law in several ways, disregarded the idea of freedom of speech, and tarnished the image of the UCSB. If the protestors were violating some law or policy the professor should have contacted the police or someone in authority. If the situation was reversed, and someone did this to her as she was holding a Pro-Choice poster I am sure she would be asking for the same type of justice (if not more). As Noam Chomsky said, "If you believe in freedom of speech, you believe in freedom of speech for views you don’t like. Goebbels was in favor of freedom of speech for views he liked. So was Stalin. If you’re in favor of freedom of speech, that means you’re in favor of freedom of speech precisely for views you despise." Please know that this is not to show support for Pro-Life. This is to show support for our freedom of speech, our laws, and justice.

That this woman is still employed... speaks very poorly of the culture of UCSB. This person is sexist, emotionally out of control, and mean spirited. I wouldn't sit at the same table as her let alone allow my children to be "educated" by her. Really scary to be honest.

She's a very hateful person who has no business being employed by the state. Period.

none more tolerant and inclusive than a Liberal (unless you disagree with them). No excuse for this kind of behavior...

This was a deliberate violation of freedom of speech based on differently held views from a person who regarded her own and her own professional standing as superior.

A university professor teaching our youth need to be held to a higher standard. Even the reasons she gave in her defense were hard to believe!
