Cafe Ole was served a notice Wednesday night, October 8 at 8:00PM, notifiying them that the Centro Comercial Marina would be demolishing their bar and also their palapa under which they host bands and that the demolition will happen in 2 days time (although the letter was dated Monday so it could happen at any time, and they have done this before at 4am).  And on top of that, Cafe Ole will be responsible for the demolition costs. So in 2 days time, Cafe Ole will effectively cease to be, as you will not be able to sit at their bar outside or enjoy live music.  

Details from the owner: Yes, this was voted on at the assembly in August (which conveniently only few people attended as most were out of town for summer). I was told later by Giovanni, one of the committee members who owns Marina Chic not to worry, that nothing of the sort would be done. Plus, there is the fact that I had prior permission from past committees to do all of this construction. The stage and the bar have been there have been there since 2006. I had argued at the Assembly why would anyone go to the expense of building anything in Puerto Aventuras if the permission can be revoked and the property torn down years later. Spearheading all of this trouble is Memo who owns Paparazzi Pizza, Adriana from Dolce Vita, Giovanni from Marina Chic. There is a Mexican man on the board also, but he has always been on my side. However, he has been outvoted by the other 3 every time.

For a great many people Puerto Aventuras is either their full time home, part time home or their yearly home away from home.  We all chose to live here because of many things, but mainly the fact that once inside the gates, our kids can run free safely, and we can enjoy eating at restaurants, having a cocktail with friends at a bar, etc and all from a walk, a bike ride or a golf cart ride from home without having to leave the neighborhood.   

For the past year or so the Centro Comercial Marina has been working tirelessly to destroy this idyllic village.  We cannot let them do it anymore.  We must stand up and re-claim the neighborhood and bring it back to its original great state.  Please sign this petition in an effort to halt their latest effort and SAVE PUERTO AVENTURAS!

Cafe Ole recibió la notificación el pasado miércoles 8 de octubre a las 8:00 pm, dando aviso que el Centro Comercial Marina demolerá el bar y palapa/escenario, en un período de 2 días (considerando que el aviso está fechado con día lunes, esto podría suceder en cualquier momento, tomando en cuenta que obras similares han tenido efecto alrededor de las 4:00 am), y los costos serán absorbidos por Cafe Ole. Por lo tanto, en 2 días, Cafe Ole efectivamente dejará de existir, ya que no podrá sentarse en el bar o disfrutar de la música en vivo.

Detalles por parte del dueño: Si, esto se acepto por medio de votación en la asamblea en Agosto (a la cual asistió muy poca gente, La mayoría de los miembros se encontraban fuera de la ciudad por el verano). Despues me comentó Giovanni, un miembro del comité, dueño de Marina Chic que no me preocupara, que nada de esto sucedería. Anexando, que tengo en mi poder todos los permisos otorgados por el comité anteriormente para edificar dichas construcciones. El escenario y el bar han estado ahí desde 2006. He debatido en las asambleas ¿Por qué alguien haría el gasto en construir algo en Puerto Aventuras si los permisos pueden ser revocados y demoler la propiedad años después. Todo este problema ha sido dirigido por Memo, dueño de Paparazzi Pizza, Adriana dueña de Dolce Vita y Giovanni dueño de Marina Chic. Existe también un Mexicano en el comité, el cual siempre me ha a respaldado, pero sus votos siempre han sido revocados por los otros 3 miembros.

Para muchas personas Puerto Aventuras es su residencia de tiempo completo, medio tiempo o su casa vacacional. Todos hemos decidido vivir aquí por muchas razones, pero principalmente porque una vez dentro de la comunidad, nuestros hijos pueden correr libres y seguros, y podemos disfrutar comer en los restaurantes, tomar unos cocteles con los amigos, etc y todo a una distancia a pie, bicicleta o en el carrito de golf sin tener salir de la comunidad. 

Durante todo el año pasado y desde entonces, Centro Comercial Marina ha trabajado arduamente en destruir esta villa ideal. No podemos permitirles seguir haciéndolo. Debemos unirnos y reclamar nuestros derechos, nuestra comunidad y regresarla a su estado original. Por favor firme esta petición en un esfuerzo detener esta situación y SALVAR PUERTO AVENTURAS!
