REVIEW OF GREEN WASTE

REVIEW OF GREEN WASTE
The issue
In 2015 Brimbank City Council without community consultation scrapped the 'Bundled Green Waste' Service, a core service that has been running since 1996.
Brimbank City Council now expects residents whom for the past 10 years have used this service to pay a 3rd party contractor per collection or alternatively purchase and pay additional rates for a kerbside green waste bin, which council has increased the cost of by 6% in 2015-16 annual budget.
This petition is for a review of these service - Provide a free alternative for residents to drop off green waste and reduce kerbside bins to be inline with other Western Metropolitan Councils, where Brimbank is currently the highest.
Current rates of disposal were dropping, however 1.2 Million kilograms of green waste was still being collected by this bundled service on top of the general green waste bins purchased by residents.
