Keep Mitcham in a single parliamentary constituency

Keep Mitcham in a single parliamentary constituency
The Issue
Mitcham has a proud heritage and a long story. Our roots are more than a thousand years old and our identity has long been recognised in modern administrative and political boundaries.
Mitcham was a municipal borough and it retains a coherent identity in the London Borough of Merton and as part of the Mitcham and Morden Parliamentary constituency. Now Mitcham is threatened with being split in half and losing its focus. Among many anomalies the proposed boundary changes split Mitcham from its Common; separate Upper from Lower Mitcham; and divide Three Kings Piece from Three Kings Pond.
The proposed changes will divide and damage Mitcham's community and sap our civic pride.
We are aware of the limited criteria used in the development of the boundary proposals to date and demand that the impact on local identity and community cohesiveness are now added.
We need Mitcham to be represented as part of a single Parliamentary constituency and we ask for our voice to be heard.
