Create an AirTrain to LaGuardia Airport via the N Train

Create an AirTrain to LaGuardia Airport via the N Train
The Issue
It takes a $50+ cab ride or up to an hour train and bus ride to get to LaGuardia Airport from Midtown Manhattan.
That’s unacceptable.
John F. Kennedy airport has a light rail train that brings people to and from the airport, called the AirTrain. Light rail refers to small, lightweight trains that run more quickly and use less energy to run than heavy rail,
such as Amtrak or subways.
We deserve better.
You may have heard about Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s plan to connect the 7 train subway line with the new AirTrain. This solution fails because it will take longer than the existing subways and buses.
Good news! Both transit groups that would need to approve the project have shot it down.
We must connect LaGuardia’s AirTrain to the N and Q trains in Astoria to ensure the quickest ride.
People served by LaGuardia’s AirTrain should include:
- Residents of the Astoria, Flushing, Pomonok, Briarwood, and Jamaica neighborhoods in Queens
- Travelers to, from, and between LaGuardia and JFK Airports
- Visitors of Queens
The AirTrain will improve transit to and from LaGuardia and enliven businesses along the line by creating a cheap, stress-free trip for both Queens residents and travelers.
Light rail like the AirTrain is the best possible solution to move people quickly without destroying neighborhoods. The AirTrain will be faster, cheaper, and less intrusive than building more subways.
