Save the 272 bus

Save the 272 bus

The Issue

Aintree Coaches have decided to stop running the 272 bus, a vital link for people in Neston and surrounding areas.  This bus not only connects Neston with Ellesmere Port but also with Liverpool  via Hooton train station.

This decision affects:

  • young people who go to college in Ellesmere Port or access leisure opprtunities such as the cinema, or work at Cheshire Oaks and trains to Liverpool and Chester.
  • older people who travel between the dispersed communities of Hooton, Willaston, Childer Thornton, Little Sutton and of course all of the leisure and retail opportunities in Ellesmere Port that simply aren’t available elsewhere
  • working people and job seekers who either need to commute to Liverpool or Ellesmere Port for work or to access the training opprtunities in Ellesmere Port Work Zone.

Job seekers in particular will be affected because many of the tasks Job Centre Plus require of them are in Ellesmere Port and for those with Children it is already difficult to attend training and development opportunities whilst undertaking their parental responsibilities.

Without this service, the alternative routes take almost an hour and a half.
