The Issue

42% of children in Birmingham live in poverty, with areas like Stockland Green and Erdington among the most affected (Source: End Child Poverty Coalition).

We urgently need your support to call Birmingham City Council to action and STOP the removal of our essential services for children, young people & families in Erdington.

Birmingham has one of the highest rates of youth violence in the UK, with crime disproportionately affecting deprived communities (Source: West Midlands Police).

Further cuts to services for children and families will have devastating effects across our communities. The removal of these services has seen a direct increase in youth violence and child poverty, which has already had a catastrophic impact. How will this affect the future of our society?

We are D1C1;  a local community organisation serving hundreds of families and thousands of children in Erdington since December 2021. Over the past 2 years, we have completed a lease transfer for Stockland Green Leisure Centre to develop a community hub for local children & families. However, Birmingham City Council have failed to complete the process, putting our services at risk.

It is our vision to build community hubs that break the cycle of community deprivation; a place where every individual, regardless of background, can access the support, resources, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential. We have already invested significantly in our first hub in Erdington including:

🍲 Community Cafe

🎭 Arts Centre

⚽️ 6-a-side Football Pitch & Netball Court

We need to formally challenge Birmingham City Council to complete the lease re-assignment to Save our Hub & prioritise the future of our Children & Young People.
