In late September of 2024, the Davidson Institute decided to cancel the Davidson THINK Summer Camp for gifted youth between the ages of 13 and 17 years old.

Gifted people think differently due to our neurodivergence, and sometimes have a lot of trouble fitting in with others due to this. This especially affects teenagers, because just like most people our age, we want to belong and feel normal too, even if for only a brief yet powerful period.

This camp offered me (and other people like me) the opportunity to find and meet people who are a little more like us, and allowed everyone attending to be on the same wavelength for once, making lifelong friends, friends that we know understand us a little better than most. With that in mind, you can see why us alumni from the Davidson THINK Program are heartbroken to think that others may not have the life-changing opportunity that we had, even though they deserve it all the same.
