Would you trust your child with an animal abuser?That is the question many parents should be asking.
I have been pushing for a change in the pa.animal abuse law for 4 months now.If we are lucky and get enough signatures,it will go to vote in September.It is Title 18 Section 5511 with sub-sections c and 0.1;but there is something we need to add.We need an Animal Abuse Registry,the closest thing we have to one now is Pet-Abuse.com and they have 15,841 cases to this date.They are doing a good job,but we need something that would be a National Animal Abuse Registry.
Animal abuse is recognized as a sign of a mental disorder.It is time to realize that animal abuse does happen,in all forms.
It is time to know that there is a connection between animal abuse and child abuse.Researchers,law enforcement officers & agencies and the F.B.I.
have all linked animal abuse to domestic violence,child abuse,serial killers,and the increase rash of school age children killing.
Three serial killers all are connected by the fact that each of them tortured and/or killed animals during their childhood.They are Ted Bundy,David Berkowitz and Edward Emil Kemper the 3rd.Bundy was convicted of 2 murders and suspected in 40;as a child he watched while his father tortured and killed animals.Berkowitz convicted of 13 murders;as a child he abused and killed  the neighbors dogs.Kemper was convicted of killing 8 women--one of them was his own mother;at 13 he killed neighborhood cats and posted their heads on poles,he killed his own cat by cutting it into small pieces,this is the same thing he did to his mother!
The one constant these three serial killers share is animal abuse.
Anyone who accustoms himself to regard the life of any living creature as worthless---is in danger of arriving at the idea that human life is worthless.
In knowing all this,i ask why would we not make harsher punishments and  make it mandatory for a national animal abuse registry,THE FIRST TIME THEY ABUSE AN ANIMAL?Why would we wait till they move on to our children?
And so it should be that even if you are not worried about the welfare of animals,you cannot ignore the fact that the next victim could be your child.
We need a change NOW.  less
