A few weeks back, Xanitos, a hospital housekeeping company fired 80 employees who worked at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. They subjected employees to drug, nicotine, criminal background, credit and literacy tests. Many of those fired were let go because of their, "inability to communicate in English." Never mind that some had been working at the hospital for years without issue.
The hospital refused to step in and prevent the firings, but you can help. Write to Xanitos and tell them to rehire workers who were fired because of these absurd literacy tests.

Rehire Employees You Fired
Greetings,
You recently subjected some of your employees to extensive drug, nicotine, background, credit and literacy tests. You then fired 80 employees who worked at St. Mary's Hospital, some of them for what you say is and "inability to communicate in English." I find the manner in which you conducted these tests, and the idea that someone can be fired for not speaking or reading to your liking absurd and I am writing to ask you to reinstate those employees that you fired because of the literacy test.
Not only did you fire employees who have been working at St. Mary's for years without incident, but you also did not properly explain who needed to take the test and why. Some workers even say were even told they passed the literacy test but when they showed up for work the next day were fired. Firing workers because of an accent, as some of the workers allege, is discriminatory and wrong. You must reinstate these workers and stop administering your ludicrous and arbitrary literacy test at once.
