Reinstate the permit for production of "The Bible".

Reinstate the permit for production of "The Bible".
The Issue
1. We need to support the arts in this country, both as a matter of artistic expression and as a matter of protected speech. The First Amendment guarantees these artists an opportunity to, as Shakespeare put it, "speak the speech trippingly upon the tongue" , especially on public land and in a public forum, even if the person granting the permit doesn't like what is said. Especially in that circumstance. Censorship by a public entity is simply wrong.
2. We must insist on separation of church and state in the U.S. The DNR is a public agency (an arm of the government). Their action was incited by a radio personality who claims evangelical Christianity, and who apparently doesn't know much about the production itself. The line between "religious liberty" and diverse speech in this country has been drawn ever narrower, and if we do not stand up for the right to free speech, even when that speech is disagreeable, we run the risk of turning into a theocracy.
The Framers were specific. Sign the petition and get behind the First Amendment. Call or write the following decision makers and stand up for the Reduced Shakespeare Company's right to perform!
