As you could readily agree with, by subsidizing the price of petroleum, we have increased our dependence on foreign oil, increased pollution and encouraged the assumption that petroleum will always be available and cheap.  Denmark and other countries long ago levied high taxes on petroleum, and are now less addicted to foreign oil.  If we are to minimize our huge deficit and the effects of climate change, we must follow these countries' lead and increase the tax on petroleum to at least a dollar per gallon.
