Supply of clean, safe and continuous water is a fundamental right of every human being. Our country experienced dry season since January resulting in reduced water supply in several states. Water rationinghas been carried out in several areas in Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor since the beginning of the year. Factors such as dry spell which caused reductions in dam levels (e.q. Sg. Selangor &Klang Gate), water source pollutions (e.q. Sg Langat) and pipe bursts (e.q. Damansara), all have came together to hit us with water supply shortages. Current water rationing, affects approximately 6.7 mil people.

Our Demands:

1) SPAN and other relevabt authorities to identify and penalize those involved in the ammonia contamination at Sg Langat.

2) All private/individual sewerage treatment facilities to be strictly regulated by SPAN.

3) Immediate works to be carried out by the water companies to reduce non-revenue water (NRW) to at most, 18% by the year 2020.

4)      The water restructuring of Selangor to take place the soonest to enable transparent and accountable management of water resources, supply and distribution. Independent auditor should be appointed to evaluate the asset of the water companies in Selangor in a transparent manner.

5)      Drafting and implementation of Water Demand Management Plan

6)      Permanent gazzeting of water catchment areas.
