The vote on November 6th was made by an ill-informed populace. It was roughly 50.6 to 49.3 Against the referendum. If this isn't passed, massive cuts will be made to Volusia County schools. A.P and I.B. courses, Sports, Theatre, Band, Dance, and the other fine arts may all be slashed, left unfunded, or canceled all together. It will result in a shortfall equivalent of over 500 teachers.
As of December 3rd, a recount did occur, but the same negation of the movement occured. This small tax with an important purpose was negated by a voting demoraphic that did not have the full argument; only pamphlets at the polls arguing otherwise. Due to obligations, teachers and the School board themselves couldn't defend it either. It is up to us, residents of Volusia county, residents of Florida, and residents of the United States, to finally draw the line; we will not allow our Public education and our future generations to succumb to this injustice. This demands recall.
