On October 1st, Somerville, MA is changing to all residential permit parking. The problem with this is that houses are granted only two visitor permits, and these visitors may only be parked two days of the week. This greatly limits the social lives of residents. Not all houses are T accessible, and many people enjoy the company of more than one visitor at a time, especially if they live in a house of multiple residents. Please sign the petition to extend visitor parking time, as well as the number of permits allowed!
Visitor Permits
Dear Mayor Curtatone
As citizens of Somerville, Massachusetts, we wish to extend the time limit of visitor permits, as well as the number of permits allowed per household. Many residents of Somerville are students at such schools as Tufts and Lesley, therefore the amount of time they might get to see family and friends is already limited. Furthermore, a good majority of us live with multiple housemates, thus it is absolutely impossible to narrow the number of guests that might be invited to the home. Not all houses are T accessible, and not all people have access to the T, which is why they have cars. Please allow more flexibility in regards to the visitor passes, as the new parking restrictions impede upon lifestyle and personal adult freedoms.
