Veto bill that would mandate forced vaginal penetration
Veto bill that would mandate forced vaginal penetration
The Issue
Medically unnecessary, forced vaginal penetration has been green-lighted by the Virginia House and Senate as a mandatory step in the process of getting an abortion in the state. According to the federal government of the United States, this constitutes rape which is defined as: “the penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.”
Regardless of personal views on abortion, both democrats and republicans, liberals and conservatives, should agree that rape is absolutely and in all cases wrong and that the government must not sanction - and in this case require - it. The proposed virginia law, by requiring transvaginal ultrasounds preformed by probes, disregards the fundamental truth that no one should ever be subjected to rape. Please stand with me in asking Governor Bob McDonnell to veto this illegal, inappropriate and harmful proposed law.
