Villanova has a storied history and rich tradition, but it is only discovered by students that seek it out. Villanova's Orientation does a great job of socially integrating students, but a poor job instilling pride in our wonderful university. This petition supports the fight song and alma mater being taught as part of Orientation.

Both songs (the fight song moreso) are played countless times throughout a Villanovan's career. Yet when are these songs, that so clearly represent our school and our pride, taught to the students? They aren't. And it's embarrassing when we stumble through them.

Orientation is the perfect time to teach school traditions. Most schools with large athletic programs use orientation week for chants students use during the rest of their time in college. While the Orientation dances are certainly one of Villanova's traditions, there is room for positive change. Teaching the fight song and alma mater during Orientation is an easy step in the right direction for Villanova. Please take pride in Villanova and sign.
