Exclude cheat commands at sever level. (CS:GO)
Exclude cheat commands at sever level. (CS:GO)
The Issue
Note: this is only applicable to private games (PCWs) between teams on the PC.
I wish to petition VALVe to include a command to exclude commands from the sv_cheats black list.
sv_exclude_cheat "fog_override"
sv_exclude_cheat_enforce "fog_override 1"
This being a server command will allow all it's servers to enforce competitive commands even though it is classified as a cheat command.
A video example of this change: (note because of a demo bug r_drawparticles is set to 0 in both videos.)
The game is about skill with mouse movements, reactions, tactical advantages and game sense. FOG and DUST inside the playable levels make identification much harder and seriously drops the skill floor and brings in luck to an unneeded extent.
Why should VALVe do this?
Spectators need to be able to identify what is going on. If it's difficult for the player, imagine how confusing it would be for spectators.
In the last few years with the advancement in video streaming, connection speeds and community websites we have seen a steady increase in spectator esports, game developers such as yourselves need to appreceate how this can be benificial to your studio.
The easier a game is to spectate the more players the game will naturally bring in. This is one of the reasons why CS 1.6 is still used in some tournaments today.
Since this will be a server command enforced on all clients it will not give some players an advantage than others.
I belive this will solve many many issues in the competitive PC side of the game even after years of many updates to the engine, since server configs (lo3) will keep up to date preferences.
Many thanks,
