VA Médical Care for Veterans on the Eastern Shore

The Issue

We are asking the VA to help our Veterans on the Eastern Shore including Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. What we need is a VA Medical Center that is central.  If you look at where there is VA Medical Centers in Delaware-Wilmington, Maryland-Baltimore, Virginia- Hampton, Richmond, and Salem. As you see there is no  medical center for the Eastern Shore.

The trip to these VA Medical Center is very hard on some, do to distance or other reasons, such as medical conditions for those on the Eastern Shore. So hard that some Veterans can't even get proper medical care. The outpatient Clinics are fine for small little things, but if you have to have x-rays, testing, arthritis exams, among other things, you still have to go to those VA Medical Center, not on the Eastern Shore.  Some Veterans that can't make the trip end up with no medical care. Others that can make the trip, usually goes through,  a 3 hour trip one way, then a 2-3 hour wait to be seen, then seen for 5-10 minutes, then drive back another 3 hours.  These hospital are already over crowded, let alone, the veterans that will be coming back from war. We must do something now!

What we can do is let Veterans go to Peninsula Regional Medical Center , a central hospital on the Eastern Shore, in Salisbury,MD. What the government pays out for mileage to Veteran for them to go to these far away VA Medical Centers. The government would save a large part of this money, that could be used as an office for the Veterans to go to, there at the Salisbury Hospital. If the Veteran needed more medical care like X-rays, they could get it there.  The hospital receives more business, in lieu the Veterans Administration receives a reduced rate.  This will also cause more hiring, and employment in the area.
