Please Co-Sponsor H.R. 4797
Honorable Representative,
I write in support of H.R. 4797, the Federal Bird-Safe Buildings Act. This important legislation seeks to incorporate bird-safe building materials and design features into public buildings.
Not only are birds beautiful and interesting creatures that are welcomed by millions of Americans into their backyards every year, but birds also have a remarkable impact on the United States economy. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has reported that birdwatchers contribute $36 billion annually to our economy, and birds naturally provide billions of dollars worth of pest control, benefitting farmers and consumers alike.
Bird-safe design features can be incorporated into new construction and major renovation projects at no extra cost, and existing buildings may be made bird-safe through the use of simple, low-cost adaptations. As such, I respectfully urge you to co-sponsor H.R. 4797 and help protect America's treasured birds.
Thank you,
