Mirai Nagasu’s body of work over the past few seasons and overall experience and talent should have her on the Olympic Team headed to Sochi. She has shown the ability to skate cleanly under pressure and even without a coach. She narrowly missed out on a second place finish at Nationals over mistakes that she can easily correct. While not to take away from the other skaters who deservedly earned their berths, Mirai Nagasu deserves to be on the Olympic Team. A veteran at 20 who is getting stronger with every competition seems more deserving of those hard earned Olympic berths than a skater with no senior international experience.

Polina also has several chances in the future to make the Olympics. While Polina is certainly very commendable for her excellent skates at nationals, her youth and inexperience in the senior level makes it more reasonable for Mirai to receive the nomination.

We want to show Mirai our support as fans, and even if this does not reach the people it needs to reach, hopefully Mirai will know that she has plenty of support.

Please also sign this petition if you would to see Mirai at least on the world team. It is generally agreed that Polina Edmunds would be much more successful at junior worlds than at senior worlds, and she could easily bring home a gold medal. Either Polina should make her senior debut at worlds and let Mirai go to Sochi or Mirai should go to worlds at least for a chance at redemption.
