A recent exclusive by NBC reporter Bob Sullivan revealed that credit reporting agencies, such as Equifax, can legally resell information they obtain about you from your employers, including your salary, to debt collectors and other private entities without your knowledge or approval.

Such a blatant breach of privacy should stop immediately. Disclosing personal information for the purpose of employment should not open the door for information poachers to profit from our purportedly private information. Therefore, I am starting this petition to call on lawmakers and the US Federal Trade Commission to modify the Fair Credit Reporting Act so that employees must approve of any reselling of their information, thus making this 'secret process' illegal.
